Just.....Let go....Story

"HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT!!" Shadow roared at Sonic as his hand balled into a fist.

"WELL, IT'S TRUE!!" Sonic roared back.

Shadow gritted his teeth in anger and raised his fist, bringing it down into Sonic's jaw.

Sonic fell back against the wall and held where he was hit as he sat up in pain and shock.

The darker form stood over him, his face lowered and his fists shaking in anger.

Sonic began to feel scared, thinking that Shadow was about to hit him again and tears started to fall.

Shadow kept his face hidden as he felt Sonic run past him and up to his room. He punched the wall and smashed a photo frame in anger.

Sonic flopped onto his bed and cried into his pillow.

Tears filled Shadow's eyes, realizing what he had done.

Sonic winced as he touched his jaw which was now purple and swollen.
"I can't believe he hit me..." he sobbed.

Shadow walked past the room and into the guest room, thinking it would be best to sleep separate for the night.

"And he's not even coming to say he's sorry. Fine! I don't care if he does or not..." he thought before curling up and going to sleep.

Shadow laid down on the guest bed and stared up at the ceiling, he glanced down at the ring around his wrist as a tear ran from his eye.

Sonic cried in his sleep.

Shadow heard him as he turned on his side and gripped his pillow as he forced himself to go to sleep.

Next morning

Sonic refused to get out of bed but his stomach growled wanting food and he got up and went to the kitchen.

Shadow was already up, wearing his black and red top and dark blue jeans. What he usually wore when he was about to go into battle.
He looked at Sonic but looked away quickly.
"Eggman is attacking the village east of here.."

Sonic grabbed a quick chili dog.
"We better go help those people..." he said not looking at Shadow.

"Yeah…" Shadow's ears drooped as he slipped his hover shoes on his feet and walked outside.

Sonic ate his chili dog, got his sneakers on and dashed on ahead.

Shadow looked down as he sighed and followed behind.

Sonic didn't bother looking back to see if Shadow was behind him.

When they got to town they saw Eggman attacking all the people in their houses and putting them on fire using his robots.

"Stop it, Eggman!!" Sonic yelled.

Shadow snarled and ran past Sonic towards Eggman.

"Shadow, wait!!"

Eggman fired his lazor as Shadow gasped.

Sonic's eyes widened as he watched.

The lazor shot through Shadow as he stumbled back, falling into the river next to him.
Eggman laughed as he went away with his robots.

"Shadow, no!!" Sonic cried as he ran over and reached out.

He felt Sonic grab his hand as he tried to loosen the grip.
"J-just….let g-go…." He mouthed as he gritted his teeth weakly.

"B-but..."

He looked at Sonic through half closed eyes and gave his hand a small squeeze, smiling weakly as he gave a weak nod.

Tears filled Sonic's eyes as he let go, now feeling terrible for not forgiving Shadow.
"Good bye, Shadow..."

He sunk as his ring glimmered in the murky water, a small smile on his face as he disappeared.

As he watched Shadow sink, Sonic felt like a part of him went with him and he sobbed as he slumped to his knees.

He felt a hand lightly clamp around his shoulder.

Sonic stopped crying for a moment and looked to see who it was.

Tails was standing there. He knelt down next to Sonic.
"I saw what happened…"

Sonic clung onto the boy and cried on his shoulder.

He hugged Sonic back tightly.
"Its okay.."

"No it's not..." Sonic sobbed, "Shadow's gone and now it's too late to tell him I forgive him..."

"Oh, Sonic…" his ears drooped, "I'm sure he knows"

"You really think so?"

He nodded.
"Of course he does"

Sonic sniffled and smiled alittle.
"Thanks for saying that, bro."

He smiled and looked at him.
"No problem Sonic. Its all true"

Sonic wiped his eyes and stood.

Tails stood too.

Sonic looked back at the river.

"You okay Sonic?"

Sonic went back to the edge of the river and took out Shadow's gun.

"S-Sonic?" Tails stuttered.

Sonic smiled at him.
"Sorry, little bro. Please carry on in my place." he said as he pointed the gun at his head and fired, causing his body to fall into the river.

"SONIC!!" he screamed and went to grab him but missed, "SONIC!!!"

Sonic looked Tails' face one last time as he sank before everything turned black and he was no more.

He faintly felt his hand touch something. Shadow's gloved hand.

Sonic weakly held it as his last breaths bubbled out.

He felt the hand slowly squeeze back as the sounds of the churning water and the faint pulse in the back of his ears faded away and became nothing.
